Building Real Financial Capability That Lasts
We started this program back in 2023 because too many people were struggling with financial jargon and intimidating advice that never quite made sense. Our approach is different. We work with real situations, actual numbers from everyday Australians, and skip the theory that doesn't apply to your life.

How We Actually Teach Financial Skills
Look, most financial education feels like reading a textbook written by someone who's never worried about rent. We took a hard look at what people actually need to know in 2025 and built something different.
Each module comes from real conversations we've had with clients over the past few years. The budgeting section? That came from working with a couple in Brisbane who couldn't figure out where their money was going each month. The investment basics? Developed after sitting with folks who were terrified of the share market but knew they should probably understand it.
We don't rush through concepts or throw spreadsheets at you without context. You'll work through your own numbers, see patterns in your spending, and build strategies that fit your actual life. Not some theoretical perfect scenario.
Next Intake: September 2025
We're accepting applications now for our autumn program. Classes run Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with flexible weekend workshops for those who can't make weeknight sessions. Eight weeks total, with ongoing support through our alumni network.
Who You'll Learn From
Our instructors aren't just qualified – they've all been where you are. Each brings something different to the table, and you'll work with all three throughout the program.
Lachlan Penrose
Spent fifteen years helping everyday Australians untangle their finances. Started as a bank teller and worked his way through various roles before realising education made more impact than sales ever could.
Bjorn Thwaites
Made plenty of mistakes with his own investments in his twenties. Now teaches others how to avoid those same pitfalls and build sensible portfolios without the hype or complexity.
Desmond Keating
Worked through significant personal debt after a business failure in 2019. Understands the stress and shame that comes with financial pressure, and knows how to create realistic paths forward.
What Eight Weeks Looks Like
We break the program into four phases. Each builds on the last, but we also circle back when something needs more attention. This isn't a rigid curriculum – we adjust based on what the group needs.
Understanding Your Current Position
First two weeks focus on getting an honest picture of where you are. We map out income, expenses, debts, and assets without judgment. Most people discover patterns they hadn't noticed before. You'll leave with a clear baseline and specific areas to address.
Weeks 1-2Building Practical Systems
Next phase involves creating budgets that actually work. We test different approaches, see what fits your lifestyle, and adjust from there. You'll also start building small emergency reserves and learning how to handle unexpected expenses without panic.
Weeks 3-4Tackling Debt and Growth
Middle section covers debt reduction strategies and basic investment concepts. We look at which debts to prioritise, how to negotiate better terms, and when it makes sense to start investing. Real case studies help you see how these strategies play out.
Weeks 5-6Planning Beyond Next Month
Final weeks focus on longer-term thinking. Retirement planning, insurance needs, major purchase strategies, and estate basics. We keep it grounded in reality – no pie-in-the-sky promises. You'll create a roadmap that evolves with your circumstances.
Weeks 7-8
